Bubbles - Chess - Friends

Updated: Sep 3, 2019

This website is created to be a way to connect with people about this new club I am trying to start in Menomonie. I have an interest in advocating for Bubbles and Chess. In 2013-2014 both were accepted in the toy hall of fame, I am a veteran chess enthusiast and have enjoyed the game for many years. I have also tried to bring bubbles to many events in Menomonie this summer. When I am running the bubble activity it's hard to really get a chance to talk with people. That is why I wanted to start this chess for children group, I have a book on teaching chess for children with a method that is proven to work in London. I would hope to get parents to train with their children. You start with just pawns and then there is a series of exercises to learn other pieces. Finally you learn tactics and strategy. There are people who are professional bubble artists and there are many people who are globally into chess. To my knowledge I am the only one who proposes to have a bubble/ chess club. The plan would be to do bubbles in the summertime and do chess/ board games during the winter. I would also be interested in developing a bubble show, doing tricks with smoke in a bubble and putting people in bubbles, etc.

The problem with chess is that people take it too seriously. In order to enjoy the game you have to be okay with losing alot. People dont like a game they are unable to win. One grandmaster said that chess is often played against someone instead of being played with another person.

The same thing comes up in managing a bubble activity with more than several kids. At freedom fest I needed to have a bit of social enginering. I went through 25 gallons of bubble juice and it felt like every kid in town was there. Everyone likes to pop bubbles, but its important for kids to realize that your fun sometimes is at someone elses expense. Maybe the kid who made the bubble wanted to see it live for a couple seconds or maybe a adult onlooker wants to see if that massive bubble can live for awhile.

I want to help kids and adults be nice to each other. We all get way too much time in watching a tv or staring into our cell phones. Why not make some monster soap bubbles or play a board game and make some new friends?
